Introduce yourself

My name's Joe, I'm 39 and I'm an education worker at an environmental charity, part-time teacher and gardener.

When did you become a member of Lilac?

December 2010

What size property will you be living in?

A ground floor, one bedroom flat with a small garden.

Why do you want to live in Lilac?

I want to live in a home that will be cheap to run, where I'll know my neighbours, has somewhere to grow some fruit & veg, and that enables me to live an eco-friendly lifestyle.

What  do you think the best thing about living in Lilac will be?

Living in a proper neighbourhood where you can help each other out, socialise when you feel like it, but still have a private home.

Any other comments?

Another really important thing about LILAC for me is that it is affordable. It will allow me to have a form of home ownership and build up equity instead of throwing money away on rent, while keeping the freedom to choose what I do for a living based on something other than just how much it pays. It's a great way of taking more control of our own lives.
