Lilac Leeds

Last 3 and 4 bed homes available in Lilac. Apply now!

Last Updated on Wednesday, 21 September 2011 18:29

Lilac has one three bed and one four bed house available. For those interested in joining and becoming a member of Lilac Mutual Home Ownership Society, it’s a great option which can suit a variety of situations.

These could include:

  • A whole family
  • A group of friends who want to all join the Co-operative and take on a lease for a house together (this could work out quite cheap as you would split the minimum income needed to live in the property between a number of people – see our affordability page for the minimum incomes needed)
  • Two couples who can’t afford a house on their own but would be happy to share and reduce their cost burden.

We are open for other proposals about how people want to live in these houses. But remember all residents have to apply and be accepted as members of the Society, meet a minimum income limit and take part in the democratic running of the Society. Please note lodgers and subletting is not permitted. There may be an option for flexible deposit terms. Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. longthingplanLILAC means Low Impact Living Affordable Community.

LILAC is a pioneering project which aims to build a community of 20 homes and a common house to high ecological standards using cohousing design principles. We are in negotiations on a site in Bramley, west Leeds which will be owned and managed by Lilac Mutual Home Ownership Society.  We aim to be on site in late 2011 with the homes complete in mid-late 2012. We only have five homes still available.

The aim of LILAC is to:

  • have a low impact on the environment, build to the highest ecological standards and protect our resources in the face of climate change and energy scarcities;
  • respond to the housing crisis by providing permanently affordable housing;
  • build a beautiful, safe neighbourhood which maximises social interaction between its residents and gives them direct power over how their neighbourhood is run;
  • and, make a positive contribution to its surrounding community.

On the pages in this website you will find out more about us and our project, our plans, latest news and events, designs, interesting links and how to contact us.
